Rare Disease Day takes place on the last day of February each year.

The purpose of the day is to raise awareness to:

    • The general public, policy makers, public authorities, industry representatives, researchers, health professionals, and anyone who has a general interest in rare diseases.
Did you know?
    • A rare disease is defined as a condition affecting fewer than 1 in 2,000 people

    • There are more than 7,000 diagnosed rare diseases

    • About 1 in 12 people (nearly three million Canadians) have a rare disease

    • CDKL5 Deficiency Disorder is a rare disease
